From Accounting to Real Estate: A Leap of Faith

Courtney’s story isn’t one of a lifelong dream to become a real estate agent—but rather a bold decision to pivot toward something new and meaningful.

“When I was younger, my sister and I would often watch HGTV, and after each episode, we would completely ‘redesign’ our playroom,” she recalls. “However, I wouldn’t say that real estate has always been my passion. I stumbled into this career after spending four years working as an accountant in the corporate world.”

After relocating to a new area and contemplating her next move, Courtney made the decision to take a leap into real estate—one that has since changed the trajectory of her life and career. “I was unaware of what lay ahead, but I quickly adapted and learned the ropes. I discovered that I couldn’t envision myself doing anything else.”

Educating and Empowering First-Time Homebuyers

While Courtney has always had a heart for helping others, her love for real estate grew when she realized its power to transform lives.

“I have always been passionate about helping others, but my love for real estate grew when I discovered that it is one of the most significant ways to build personal wealth,” she explains. “As a numbers person, I believe in the power of data, and the numbers don’t lie.”

Her sweet spot? First-time homebuyers. “My greatest passion lies in assisting first-time homebuyers. I love educating them about real estate and guiding them as they take their first steps towards achieving generational wealth.”

Staying Motivated Through the Highs and Lows

As a W-9, commission-only agent, the real estate grind can come with emotional and financial challenges. But for Courtney, two driving forces keep her grounded and inspired—her family and her clients.

“My family is my biggest support, and they inspire me every day. This career has not only provided us with financial stability but also the freedom to explore new horizons and make unforgettable memories together.”

She also finds deep meaning in her client relationships:
“Being a helper at heart, I find immense satisfaction in knowing that my work in real estate positively impacts the lives of others. Assisting clients in finding their dream homes, securing a stable future, or making sound investments gives me a sense of purpose and fulfillment.”

Advice for Her Younger Self

If she could speak to herself on the day she got her real estate license (January 5, 2022), Courtney would remind herself that real estate is more than just transactions—it’s a personal journey.

“Embrace every challenge and opportunity that comes your way with an open heart and an eager mind. Real estate is not just a career; it’s a journey filled with highs and lows, triumphs and lessons. Stay resilient, stay curious, and never lose sight of the impact you can have on the lives of others.”

A Passion for Adventure and Authenticity

Outside of real estate, Courtney finds joy in adventure and the great outdoors. “I have a passion for sailing, where the open waters and gentle breeze bring a sense of freedom and tranquility,” she shares. She also enjoys backpacking, traveling, and experiencing cultures around the world.

When asked what she wishes her future clients knew, Courtney sums it up beautifully:

“I believe in being completely raw and transparent with my clients. When it comes to your purchase or sale, I treat it with the same care and dedication as if it were my own.”
